Welcome to the Montana Telecommunications
Association

On May 17, 1955, the Montana Telephone Association (MTA) was founded in Great Falls, MT.  Now called the Montana Telecommunications Association and located in Helena, MT, MTA just celebrated its 50th Anniversary, continuing to provide government affairs, communications, training and education, trade shows and related services to independent telecommunications service providers throughout Montana. The Montana Telecommunications Association  is a non-profit corporation. The Association represents its members before the Montana Public Service Commission, other state and federal agencies, Congress and the Montana Legislature.

MTA member companies provide local residential and business phone services, as well as a full-spectrum of other telecommunications services including broadband and dial-up Internet; satellite TV, competitive local exchange and wireless services, long distance, etc.  MTA members have over $500 million of plant (telecommunications infrastructure assets) in service in Montana and invest over $50 million each year in new facilities and services serving primarily rural Montana.  They provide access to broadband Internet service to over 80% (and often near 100%) of their customers, with the highest quality communications services in the industry.  MTA members employ 635 proud Montanans, earning over $50 million in salary and benefits.

The MTA's Board of Directors: President is Bill Squires, Sr. Vice President and General Counsel of Blackfoot Telephone Cooperative;  MTA's Vice President is Mary Taylor, Government Relations for CenturyTel;  Laurence Walchuk is MTA's Secretary/Treasurer, and a Supervisor of Hot Springs Telephone Company;  MTA's General Manager is Geoff Feiss.  Other MTA members include: William Dringle, with 3 Rivers Communications; Ingo Henningsen with Frontier Communications; Larry Mason with Southern Montana Telephone Company; Robert Orr with Lincoln Telephone Company; Rob Stephens with Range Telephone Cooperative; and our Associate Board Member is John Borland, with Graybar Electric Company.
